We know you have questions. Here are the ones families ask us most often — answered clearly, without the runaround.
Non-medical home care provides personal assistance, companionship, and household support to seniors and individuals with disabilities — without clinical or nursing services. It includes help with bathing, dressing, grooming, light housekeeping, transportation, meal preparation, and companionship. It is distinct from home health care, which involves medical procedures performed by licensed nurses or therapists.
Common signs include difficulty managing daily tasks like bathing, cooking, or dressing; a cluttered or unsafe home environment; missed medications or medical appointments; unexplained weight loss; increased confusion or forgetfulness; recent falls; or social withdrawal. Keep in mind that many aging individuals will not ask for help — and one spouse may "cover" for the other out of pride. Our Resources page has guides to help you identify the signs.
Home health care is medical in nature — provided by licensed nurses, physical therapists, or occupational therapists, typically after a hospitalization or surgery. It focuses on clinical treatment and monitoring. Non-medical home care (what Golden Rule provides) focuses on personal assistance, daily living support, housekeeping, and companionship. The two services can complement each other and are often used simultaneously.

Yes. We work hard to match the right caregiver to each client based on personality, needs, and preferences — and consistency matters to us. Once a successful match is established, we prioritize maintaining that relationship. If the initial match isn't right, we will work with you to find someone better suited.
Our primary focus is in-home care in private residences. We can also provide supplemental support in assisted living communities or rest homes. Please contact our Care Coordinator to discuss your specific situation.
Every caregiver placed by Golden Rule Home Care undergoes a thorough background check, reference verification, and training. We select individuals not only for their skills but for their character — the genuine compassion and reliability that make a real difference in someone's home. We stand fully behind each caregiver we place.
We understand that reliability is everything in home care. We maintain backup caregiver coverage and will notify you promptly if any schedule change is required. Continuity of care — and your family's peace of mind — is a top priority for us.
Costs vary depending on the type of services required, the number of hours per week, and whether care is part-time, full-time, or live-in. Non-medical home care is typically charged at an hourly rate. We create flexible, customized care plans and are transparent about pricing from the very beginning. Contact us for a free consultation and we will provide clear information based on your specific needs.
Medicare does not typically cover non-medical (custodial) home care services. However, long-term care insurance policies often do cover these services. Some families also qualify for Medicaid-funded programs. We recommend reviewing your existing coverage and speaking with a benefits advisor. Our Care Coordinator can also point you toward local resources for financial assistance.
In many cases, we can arrange care to begin within a few days of your initial consultation. For urgent situations, please call us directly at (813) 536-5432 and we will do everything possible to accommodate your timeline.
